ANNOUNCEMENT of the new MIAO Board Members

We are delighted to announce our new board members, as elected on the 28th of March 2025, and it feels very poignant to release this news on World Stray Day.

Dear Members and Friends of MIAO,

We are delighted to introduce the newly appointed board members of Mani International Animal Organisation.

As we embark on this new chapter, we first want to express our deepest gratitude to the outgoing board members who have dedicated their time, passion, and expertise to building and shaping this organisation. Their invaluable contributions have set a strong foundation, and we are committed to honoring their legacy by continuing the important work they started.

With great enthusiasm, we welcome our new board members:

  1. Birgit Broest – President

Bee, as she is more commonly known, will be responsible for internal communication, online media, PR, fundraising and events, and of course the general representation of MIAO. Many of you already know her from the videos she makes for MIAO.

  1. Regina Reich – Vice-President

Regina will mainly take care of the day to day operations of MIAO as to the direct needs
of the animals in our care, such as boarding, maintenance, fostering and adoptions.

  1. Gina Kardagou – Secretary

Gina is going to take on the legal matters of MIAO and will take care of all the paperwork
that is necessary for our functioning as a charitable organisation in Greece.
Gina is a native Greek speaker and therefore has all the necessary jargon to fulfil this role perfectly.

  1. Carole Smith – Treasurer

Carole will be in charge of MIAO’s financial operations. She has been an accountant
all her life and worked for some big corporate businesses.
Her expertise will keep us on the straight and narrow with our limited budget!

  1. Julia Thompson – Member

Julia was one of the founding members of MIAO and has supported our organisation for years,
not only within the operations but as a regular foster home too. Julia will jump into action wherever needed.

Each of the above members brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to animal welfare, ensuring that Mani International Animal Organisation continues to grow and make a positive impact. Their collective vision, expertise, and passion will guide us toward new opportunities, stronger advocacy,
and greater support for the animals and communities we serve. We will introduce each member to you individually in our upcoming newsletter, so keep an eye out for this upcoming edition!

As we move forward, we invite you all to join us in supporting our new board members in their mission to elevate our work to new heights. Together, we will build on the strong foundation laid before us and continue to strive for a world where all animals are treated with respect, compassion, and care.

Thank you for being an essential part of our journey. We look forward to achieving even greater milestones together!

On behalf of the new board,
with warm regards

Birgit Broest – Huskisson

President
