Deep down, Koda is a true guardian at heart. He takes this role seriously and genuinely enjoys watching over his surroundings and the people he trusts. Due to his past as a chained dog, he has limited life experience, which means he can become anxious quickly — and when he feels insecure, he may respond defensively.
Koda is noticeably more uncomfortable around men and can become fearful of them more easily. However, once trust is established, he shows a completely different side of himself. Koda is incredibly affectionate and loves to cuddle, forming deep bonds with those he feels safe with.
Because of problems with his hips, Koda is not suited for long walks and requires ongoing pain medication to keep him comfortable. He enjoys gentle activity at his own pace and values calm, predictable routines.
When meeting other dogs, Koda is generally open and curious. However, if he feels pressured or overwhelmed, he quickly reaches his limit and needs a safe, protected space where he can retreat and feel secure. With understanding, patience, and clear boundaries, Koda has the potential to be a wonderfully loyal and loving companion.
